Morning everyone.
I have put together this check list as a guide to what you should have in your sketchbook, Your brief has information required but some of you may want to use this as well .
Sketch book content should have covered these areas:
Performance, History & Other Cultures:
- Identify Body painting within performance: T.V , Film, Theatre or any other- mood board or images with comment critically on techniques used.
- Discuss products: Aqua colours,Brushes, grease and paints.
- Health and safety- care of the Model, contraindications, care of yourself , clean products, patch testing.
- Research the History of Body painting and Body painting in other cultures.
- Create mood boards or show images for History and Other cultures, comment on your findings.
- Explore using Natural pigment -working with fruits, earth, vegetables, flowers and so on - show test pieces and evaluate.
- Design a 1/2 body painting inspired by another culture- drawings, sketches, paintings and notes explaining intentions.
- Create tests , explain techniques photograph.
- Create a body painting that is inspired by another cultures -Photograph and evaluate.
Nightmare before Christmas:
- Watch the film Nightmare before Christmas- take notes,Research Tim Burtons approach and style.
- Create a mood board and make comments for inspiration.
- Create 2 fully explained designs for a Tim Burtons Nightmare before Christmas- think about techniques, texture, pattern, colour style and so on .
- Select your favourite design and show tests .
- Create your full body painting on a model , photograph and critically evaluate, including any modifications.
Wizard of Oz :
- Watch the Wizard of Oz film.
- Create a mood board or show images that inspire you, make comments.
- Explore Paint effects other materials : mixed media, pattern, character features ( green skin for witch/ Metal effects for Tin man/ texture for Scarecrow/ fur effects for Lion)
- Create 2 fully explained designs.
- Select your favourite design . discuss products and techniques you will use. Your design must include face make-up Lashes costume and hair.
- Think about partial costume appropriate to your design work. show designs and materials( this should not cover any full body painting you have done).
- Create test pieces to support your ideas.
- Follow health and safety guidelines.
- Create Full body paint on model ( family member )or on yourself, Show costume , hair and face make-up , false lashes if possible, focal features if you are unable to do full body due to lock down.
- It is important to show your skill, attention to detail and techniques if you are creating parts only as when marking , I need to assess skill level, likeness to design elements, colours,pattern etc.
- Photograph critically evaluate and send to me.
